FUTO Featured on Nippon TV’s Genba

Hello, this is Yamamoto, the manager of FUTO.

In the television program Kazushige x Kamaitachi Genba, broadcast on January 19, Kazushige Nagashima, Kenji Yamauchi, and Ryuichi Hamaya visited FUTO and wrote letters to themselves one year in the future. We were very happy to have that scene introduced on the program.

These are the autographs we received during filming. They are displayed somewhere inside FUTO, so please try to find them when you visit.

Since the program may have introduced FUTO to many people for the first time, we would like to introduce the shop again here.

What is FUTO?

FUTO is a poetic cafe built around the concept of tasting your honest feelings and your days. You can enjoy TOMOSHIBI LETTER, where you write a letter to yourself one year in the future while having tea, and A CUP OF LETTER, where you enjoy words selected by staff for you together with drinks and food.

We run the shop with the hope of creating a chance for you to turn toward your honest feelings and the subtle movements of daily life.

Our first shop, JIYUCHO, is also in Kuramae. People sometimes think of the two as rivals, but JIYUCHO is more like an older sibling.

About TOMOSHIBI LETTER

The future-letter experience enjoyed on the program usually flows like this.

First, choose a letter set scene that matches your current feeling. Then staff bring a postcard with a poem and questions chosen for that scene. Read the poem, answer the questions if you like, and freely write your letter.

The set also includes a small sweet and a drink, so you can take breaks and write in a relaxed way. When the letter is finished, seal it with wax in your favorite color and a sealing stamp.

Finally, place the sealed letter into the postbox inside FUTO. One year after the day you wrote it, the letter will arrive at the address written on the envelope.

What will you feel one year from now? Please look forward to it.

Visiting and reservations

If you already know when you would like to visit, we recommend making a reservation from our website. Weekday evenings are especially recommended because Kuramae itself becomes quieter and you can spend a slower time.

If you are still considering using the service and simply want to stop by, you are also very welcome. We sell books and original items in the shop, so please feel free to take a look.
