“Dear Future Me” is a series in which Shohei Koyama—poet and owner of JIYUCHO — delivers poetic words in Japanese and English, like letters to his future self that trace the subtleties of everyday life. I hope this becomes a place like your mailbox where postcard poems arrive.

Dreams

Dreams

As if today were only a passing dream

what do I feel right now

where am I heading

what do I bring along into the future

every now turns into a dream

shining, becoming a source

a step for hope, for light, for tomorrow

then here, in this moment

this time, this day, this now

what do I raise to the sky

what do I keep close within

About this piece

If this poem were turned into a song, what would it sound like?

With a beautiful voice and melody, like a choir.
