Visiting the Rice Terraces Behind BEAT ICE

At FUTO, we serve several kinds of sweets, and when the weather gets hot, one especially popular item is Hayama Ice. 🍨

It is made from rice grown in terraced fields in Hayama, Kanagawa.
The other day, members of the FUTO team actually went to help with work in those rice terraces!

At first, even just walking through the rice field was hard work. 💦
We were exhausted in no time, and found ourselves wondering what kind of strength the people who care for the rice there every day must have. 😅

We were only able to help for a short while, but realizing that these terraces have been nurtured and protected by so many hands, and that the rice grown there is harvested, made into ice cream, and delivered to our shop, felt deeply precious. 🥹

To everyone at BEAT ICE and Tanada House, thank you so much for that day. ✨

Hayama Ice is made with amazake brewed from rice grown in the terraced fields, blended with plant-based milk.
It is vegan, gentle on the body, and made with non-alcoholic amazake, so children can enjoy it too. 👍

If you would like to try it, please feel free to stop by.

We look forward to welcoming you from tomorrow onward, together with delicious sweets.
